Programme

The financial services industry is changing at a relentless pace. What was the norm yesterday can be old-fashioned tomorrow. New technologies, new regulations, new entrants, the changing socio-demographic environment, etc. make this industry increasingly complex compared with a generation ago.

The MBA-FSI programme was founded in the 1990s, at the time that new financial groups with substantial banking and insurance activities were emerging. That new form of competition forced financial institutions to re-assess their overall business strategies and adapt their internal organisations.

The strength of this programme lies in the unique combination of a general MBA content with a focus on the financial services industry. Management trends in the field of strategy, marketing, finance, technology, etc. are translated and applied to the financial sector by means of carefully-selected faculty, guest speakers, case-studies, and company visits.

Prof. Dr. Lutgart Van den Berghe
Chairman of the MBA-FSI Programme Committee

Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School
is the autonomous management school of the University of Ghent and K.U. Leuven. It was founded in 1953 by André Vlerick, a professor and entrepreneur, and has been Belgium’s leading management school for over half a century now. The goal of this international and academic management school is to help professionalise management and encourage entrepreneurship.

The University of St. Gallen for Business Administration, Economics, Law and Social Sciences (HSG), founded in 1898, concentrates on the education of tomorrow’s leaders in business, public administration, and law. The HSG, which became a “business university” in 1911, continues to this day to pursue the goal of providing for its students a practical-oriented education.

Being Canada’s first management school, HEC Montréal celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2007. Since its inception, the school has always been one of the pioneers in offering high quality business education in North America. As a result, HEC Montréal is the first North American school to hold the three accreditations AACSB international, EQUIS and AMBA, and the first non-European school to receive the EQUIS accreditation.

Study in St.Gallen

St.Gallen offers its approximately 75,000 inhabitants a historically valuable old town with a great number of shops, street cafés, bars and clubs. The Abbey District with the baroque cathedral and the Abbey Library is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and thus of international significance. Further cultural highlights are provided by performances in the City Theater, the Concert Hall, the St.Gallen Festivals, as well as by exhibitions in numerous museums and private galleries. One event that is particularly popular with many students is the St.Gallen Open Air, during which the Sitter Valley is transformed into Switzerland’s biggest tent city for three days.
